Diesel is the quiet bill. It does not show up on the campaign poster. It shows up in the grocery aisle, the lumber yard, and the price of getting a truck from the field to the shelf.
On Friday, Trump got on the phone with Putin and came back with fuel. Russia ships more than 300,000 tons now, another 500,000 in November, a million after that, and more if the refineries hold. The White House put the stack at 4.8 million tons. Sanctions on Russian diesel got a temporary waiver. The point was not a parade in Moscow. The point was the pump.
AAA had national diesel at $6.28 a gallon on Thursday. That is not a vibe. That is a trucker doing math at 2 a.m. and a rancher watching the margin disappear. Trump has been blunt about the priority. Farmers, ranchers, truckers. Lower the fuel, or the midterms get expensive in the only way voters notice.
The usual media choir already has the hymn. How dare he. Sanctions. Ukraine. The phone call. Fine. The choir does not haul grain. A waiver is not a treaty and Putin is not a friend. A full tank is still a full tank. You can scold the dealership after the truck starts.
Remember who sent the prices skyrocketing. Four years of Biden, and the receipt got longer every quarter. Inflation was not a weather event. It was policy. Spend, print, restrict, then act surprised when diesel acts like a luxury good. Democrats still want to run on the memory of that and call it compassion.
Trump is doing the unfashionable thing. He is trying to make the ordinary stuff affordable again. Gas. Diesel. The cost of moving anything that is not a speech.
November 3 is the red letter day. If you want the pump to keep falling, vote straight Red Republican. The communist Democrats already had long four years. We still have their bill.
